FIVE DAYS OF GRATITUDE- DAY 5

Day 5

Today is the last day of my five days of gratitude, and the last day of the month, and the year. I have just blogged out my cogitations on the leap from this year into next, so I won’t bore you with that because I know soon, many of us will go off to church for crossover services, while others will go off to other places.

FIVE DAYS OF GRATITUDE- DAY FOUR

Day 4

Today I read a large part of Emmanuel Iduma’s ‘Farad’. Emmanuel’s prose makes me sad, introspective. I don’t know why.

FIVE DAYS OF GRATITUDE - DAY 3

Day 3

Today was extremely exciting for me. Too exciting that I didn’t feel the stress, at least not until now. I am extremely tired while I write this. I feel very drowsy,

FIVE DAYS OF GRATITUDE

Day 1

Contrary to the clichéd ‘Just like yesterday, the year is already over’, this year for me moved like a snail. Sometimes I ask myself whether some things that happened this year actually happened this year or happened last year. Maybe it’s because a lot happened this year. So much.

LIFE ON 'K' STREET

Life on K street is like sour beans left under the hot sun. It is like a blind man with pepper smeared over his eyes, it is like a child who has just lost her only doll.

AYO

Ayo

Ayo is real for me, yet in some ways metaphorical. Allow me to explain.

NOW THE DAY IS OVER

I haven't done the traditional blog post for my birthday yet. This was on purpose. Becoming 21 was something worth thinking long and hard about, so I decided I would put up my birthday blog post at the end of my birthday month, precisely on the last day.

Now the day is over...

BIRTHDAY BLOGGING 2: COUNTING MY BLESSINGS

I am soooo sorry for not blogging yesterday. I have been so busy planning our moot and mock team end-of-semester get together plus my literary event coming up on Saturday, plus, of course, TEDxIfe on the 15th. It's been one heck of a week. Please forgive me.

So I'm sitting down here in one of those law classes without working bulbs and in spite of the fact that time is fast running out and I need to be at my choir rehearsals, and my heart is beating fast because it's barely six hours to the birthday of Earth's most wonderful gift.

TEDxIfe: FINDING MY X'ES

Hey guys.

Uhmm...you must have been seeing a couple of posts about TEDxIfe on my Facebook timeline recently. Well, apparently, I am involved with this year's TEDxIfe event, and I am glad to be. I am the

BIRTHDAY BLOGGING 1: GRATITUDE TUESDAY

'When I was born, my head was facing north, meaning my legs were coming out where my head was supposed to. A couple of prayers and I re-adjusted.'

So its almost exactly one year after I put up my landmark birthday blog post last year. Well, this year I planned to have a series of blog posts run for about one week during the period up to my birthday. Sadly, some factors affected that resolve. Today is exactly three days to the day of the greatest man that ever came to this world (excluding Jesus, that is). And I choose to call today, 'Gratitude Tuesday'.

SOMETHING OF A SECRET

This is a short speech I gave earlier today at the orientation event for new students of the faculty of law. I thought to share it with you.

Good morning. My name is Caleb. Caleb Adebayo. People call me Lord Kel. Some of you I have met, and some I haven’t so I’d briefly introduce myself. I am your colleague, and an avid lover of human rights and criminal law, I am also a writer, a Life Coach, an internet-addict, an OAP at Great FM (the school’s radio station) and I like beans, especially when its prepared nicely. I hope that’s enough introduction for a day.

STREAMLINED

We were giggling hard, the four of us.  Perhaps not as hard as we were trying to keep the fishes between our fingers. But hard. We had to hold tight to the fishes, so none of them slipped. Each of us held a fish in our hands yet we didn’t immediately want to drop them in the bucket by the shore. Omole, the smallest of us was chortling excessively and soon the fish he held dropped. It shook its tailfin, as if grateful for returning home alive, then evanesced quickly under so we could not see it again.

‘Now see how you people made me drop my fish’ he had a mournful look on his face, yet he was trying to hold back laughter with his fingers pressing his lips

LOVE LETTERS

Love letters are tricky things. You know it. That is why you never asked your father to teach you even when you saw the beautifully crafted one he wrote to Banke hidden in his silver-coated briefcase. Banke is not your mother. So who is she? Oooh, so Daddy did these things too. The handwriting, you noticed looked like that of a child, consciously scrawled cursive letters, effort and meaning in every of them. If it hadn’t been for the way the writing was- and maybe the kind of paper it was written on-, you would have thought Daddy was cheating on mummy. Thankfully he wasn’t.
